On Second Thought

On second thought, I give myself a B. Maybe a B-. In my adult life, grades like that are just fine with me. Remember, there are surgeons who earned degrees with 'C' and 'D' grades. Probably more than I really want to think about.

I freakin' hate summer. It's true. I was born in a blizzard, and I still like snow and cold weather. The only thing I don't like about winter is ice - sleet and freezing rain. I have a small amount of phobia (if that's possible) relating to slipping on ice. I've hurt myself that way more than once.

Anyway, I'm not watering. Certainly not my lawn, if you can call it that. Hey, maybe all the weeds will die and when the grass comes out of 'dormancy' it will take over (a girl can dream, can't she?). I'm not watering the flowers or the trees in the yard. It's an experiment to see what really is drought-tolerant. I am continuing to water the 24 square feet of vegetable garden, although as things grow to their maturity and then go by, like the greens and the broccoli, I'm leaving those patches devoid of new plantings. I'm just tired of watering, and summer doesn't even officially start until tomorrow. Gonna be a long season.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in these United States, all kinds of flood-related devastation is occurring. Why oh why? And I've said this every year since moving to Delaware - If I wanted to live in a desert, I would have moved to the southwest. Waa-waa.

About that experiment regarding what is drought-tolerant? Obviously not me.

  1. Or me. Not heat tolerant. Not humidity tolerant. Not daylight tolerant. Not drought tolerant. Not summer tolerant.

    Pretty much not tolerant.
